PART 23 CORONAVIRUS CAL

STARRY STARRY NIGHT

Here in the UK we have been blessed with the most beautiful weather over the last few weeks which has undoubtedly made lockdown a lot easier to bear for many people. The skies have been so clear with fewer planes which has meant star-gazing and satellite watching has become a National past time...we were lucky enough to spot one of Elon Musk's satellite trains recently...it really was quite a sight to behold...60 satellites crossing the night sky in a perfect line.

"When it's dark, look for stars"

Part 22 CORONAVIRUS CAL

LAMBING TIME

Part 21 CORONAVIRUS CAL

HEDGEHOGS

Lockdown in the UK is perfect timing for all our native hedgehogs who are coming out of hibernation at this time of year...the roads are so much quieter, enabling them to cross safely.

"There are many kind, sensitive souls who hide beneath their tough exterior"

SPIKE STITCH

131) Ch3, 1 tr in every st across

132) Ch3, 1 tr in each of the next 3 trs, *Ch1, miss 1 tr, 1 tr in each of the next 3 trs, repeat from * to end, finishing with 1 tr in each of the last 4 trebles (but don't worry if you don't have 4 just stick to the pattern).

I only had room for 2 trebles at the end...just make sure you are aware of how many you have when you start the next row as you will have to adapt the pattern accordingly

133) Ch3, 1 treble in each of the next trebles depending on how many you have...when you get to the first Ch-1 space work the following treble down through the chain space and into the gap of the treble below on row 132. See photo. * now work 1 tr into each of the next 3 trs, 1 tr down in to the treble of row 32 under the chain space, repeat from * to end

134) Ch3, *work 1 tr in next st, *ch1, miss 1 st, 1 tr in each of the next 3 sts, repeat from * to end . The important thing here is to check that the ch-1 lies above the middle treble of the group of 3 trebles on the row below. Use the chart to double-check.

135) Repeat Row 133 making sure that you work 3 regular trebles in between each of the long trebles that drop down to the row below in the ch-sp.

136) Repeat row 134 again making sure that everything lines up correctly...you might have to adjust the start and the beginning to get the pattern to work.

137) Repeat Row 135.

138) Ch3, 1 tr in every st across

BLUEBELLS
"I have spread my dreams beneath your feet. Tread softly because you tread on my dreams" WB YEATS

The bluebells have started to appear in my local woods...often not seen until May, the recent warm weather has encouraged them to bloom early. They are often known as Fairy Woods...there certainly is magic to behold in the sheer beauty of them.

130) Ch3, miss the first ch-sp then work 1 tr in every ch-sp and in every puff stitch to the end missing the last ch-sp and working 1 tr into the last st.

"And once the storm is over, you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure whether the storm really IS over. But the one thing is certain; when you come out of the storm, you won't be the same person who walked in. That's what the storm is all about." Haruki Muraki
