WEEK 18 'Blackberry Bush'

Week 18 Rows 113-121

OK this is another one where you have to keep an eye on the chart as you work so that the bobbles are evenly spaced around the dcs either side of them. Also, if you have a definite right and wrong side to you blanket you want to make sure that you start the bobbles (row 115) on the RIGHT side so that they all pop out the correct way. This might mean you doing one less or extra row at the start to get you  on the right side. I will point out the RS (right side) and WS (wrong side) when we get there.

Row 113 ( lilac)

Ch3, 1 tr in every stitch to end

Row 114  ( green) (WS)

Ch3 , 1 tr in every stitch to end

Row 115 (blackberry) RIGHT SIDE!

ch1, 1 dc in same place, 1dc in next stitch, * tr5 together in next stitch, 1dc in each of the next 3 stitches, repeat from * ending with a dc in the tch (turning chain). Here is the photo tutorial...

yo  into stitch yo and pull through then yo pull through 2 so 2 loops left

repeat first step  til 3 loops left

repeat til 4 loops left

repeat til 5 loops left

repeat til 6 loops left

yo and pull through all 6 loops at once...1 blackberry bobble made!

1 dc in each of the next 3 stitches

Hopefully that's gone ok...when you get to the end you'll need to see how many dcs you should finish on  to make it look best

Row 116  (green)

Ch3, 1 tr in next stitch and every stitch to the end (i.e 1 tr in each of the dcs and 1 in the top of the blackberry )

this shows what the bobbles look like from the WS

This shows where you do the treble in the top of the bobble

This shows the bobbles from the RS

Row 117 (blackberry)

1ch, 1 dc in same place, 1 dc in each of the next 4 trs, * tr5 tog in next tr, 1 dc in each of the next 3 tr, repeat from *. Make sure yours line up as in the chart which might mean you don't  start with 4 dcs.

I only did 3 dcs at start not 4 so that my first bobble was in the middle of the 2 bobbles on the row below

Row 118  ( green)

Repeat Row 116

Row 119 (blackberry)

Repeat row 115 making sure that the bobbles line up with that first row

Row 120 (green)

Repeat row 116

Row 121  (lilac)

Repeat row 113

The Right Side

The Wrong Side (still looks lovely anyway so I'm not bothered which is RS or WS!)

A few of you have asked for a photo of my CAL so far so here it is! I'd love to see yours if you fancy sharing them in the comments below.

Week 17 Angular Waves

Week 17 Rows 104-112

This is another week where it doesn't matter if your rows don't start and end exactly where the chart does as long as you follow the pattern so that you always have 2 sets of trebles on top of each other and 2 sets of doubles around them. Hopefully you'll work it out!

Row 104 (stone)

Ch3, 1 tr in every stitch across

Row 105 (denim)

Ch1 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of next 3 stitches, *1 tr in each of next 4 stitches, 1 dc in each of next 4 stitches, repeat from * to end.

I started the pattern as per the chart with 4 dcs...

...but ended with 4 trs instead of dcs so I had to start the next row in a different place to the chart

Row 106  (denim...same as previous row to get the wave effect)

FROM THE CHART : Ch1 (counts as 1dc), miss 1 dc, 1dc in each of the next 3dcs, * 1tr in each of the next 4trs, 1 dc in each of the next 4 dcs, repeat from * to end working the last dc in to the Tch (turning chain).

HOWEVER; my last row finished with trebles instead of doubles so I had to start this row with trebles to get the pattern correct.

I had to start with ch3 then 3 trebles on top of the trebles from the row below rather than do the dcs as in the chart
I hope you can use the chart and my photos to work out where you are in the pattern and start accordingly.

Row 107 (pink)

Ch3, (counts as 1 tr), miss 1dc, 1 tr in each of next 3 dc , * 1 dc in each of next 4 trs, 1 tr in each of next 4 dcs, repeat from * to end working last tr in to Tch.

Row 108 (pink...same as last row)

Ch 3, 1 treble in each of next 3 trs, * 1 dc in each of next 4 dcs, 1 tr in each of next 4 trs, repeat from * to end working last tr in Tch.

I had to start with the dcs  not the trs to keep the wave pattern...can you see ?
Row 109  (denim - same as before)

Repeat Row 105

Row 110  (denim)

Repeat Row 106

Just make sure that wherever you start you have the dcs lined up with the dcs and the trs lined up with the trs.

Row 111 (stone)

Repeat Row 106 or 107 depending on where you start as this needs to straighten up the row below.

This show rows 111 and 112...I had to start with the trebles on row 111 (like row 107) in order to fill in the gaps and straighten up...you might have to start with a repeat of row 106 if yours starts with dcs.

Row 112 (stone)

Ch2, 1 htr in same stitch, 1 htr in every stitch across

I hope this hasn't been as complicated as the Catherine Wheels and that you've cracked it ok...we're half way there now I reckon!

CAL WEEK 15 Front and Back Loop Double Crochet

WEEK 15  ROWS 89-96

*******As  rows 90-95 are all worked in Double Crochet (US SC) they can get quite tight like the LINEN stitch so either concentrate on not doing it too tight or go up half a hook size. *********

Row 89 (Navy blue)

Ch 3 , 1 treble in every stitch across

Row 90 ( Grey)

Ch1 (doesn't count as a dc) then do a dc in the FRONT LOOP ONLY of every stitch across.
Here's a link to my You Tube Tutorial in case you'd like to see it being done!

So, here we go...put your hook under the FRONT LOOP of the stitch

Yo and pull through so there are  2 loops on the hook and don't worry that it looks a bit loose at this stage..

Then YO and pull through 2 loops = 1 DC FLO worked. Continue to end of row.

Row 91 ( Lilac)

Ch1 (doesn't count as 1), then do 1dc BLO in every stitch across. Here's my YOUTUBE tutorial...

So, put your hook under the BACK LOOP of the next stitch,

Pull a loop through then YO and pull through both loops ...1DC BLO worked.

Continue to end of row

Row 92 ( Pink)

Repeat Row 90

Row 93 ( Grey)

Repeat Row 91

Row 94 (lilac)

Repeat Row 90

Row 95 ( pink)

Repeat Row 91

Showing final row of trebles too

Row 96 (navy blue)

Repeat Row 89

This is how it looks from the other side - more textured and ribbed

I am back in love with my CAL after a few weeks of doubt so decided to take a few close up photos of it so far....would love to hear how yours are getting on...
